Our Creative Accelerator Retreat offers three distinct daily workshop tracks which will allow you to engage with a community of intelligent, artistic, supportive people. Each workshop size is limited to 6 people. Participants will share work and/or ideas and offer constructive feedback (if desired). Instructors will also offer one-on-one time to discuss specific creative issues.
Track One. Art And photography. Accelerate your portfolio
This artistic track allows you to experiment with different forms including photography, design, ceramics, drawing, bookbinding, textiles, crafts and cyanotype. Artists are encouraged to try at least one other form, while maintaining the integrity of your personal project.
A special excursion will focus on photographing and artistically capturing Ikaria's unique terrain and environment.
"Every painting is a voyage into a sacred harbour." ― Giotto di Bondon
track Two: Writing. Launch Your book or blog.
Launch or ground your novel, travel blog, memoir, journalism, creative non-fiction or poetry project. Techniques we will draw upon include wild mind writing, material storytelling and nature writing. Exercises will also focus on basic elements of a book such as plot, setting and character development. Participants are also encouraged to bring passages and poems from their favorite writers.
“Because this business of becoming conscious, of being a writer, is ultimately about asking yourself, How alive am I willing to be?”
― Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life
track three: Launch your business.
This track will provide participants with the leap of faith to the wall of confidence needed to launch an independent business. Ground your business in introspection and creativity. Generate new ideas for branding, marketing, audience, funding and structure.
Ensure the longevity of your business by aligning it with your dreams, goals and values. Ask yourself tough questions: What is my creative edge? What is the true purpose of the business? Will there be a philanthropic mission? How will it add value to the world?
Participants from other tracks may also engage in this track.
Participants in all tracks will also benefit from collective (large group) brainstorming sessions, and exercises designed to shake you out of your comfort zone.
